Liveability is the thread that wove this project together. The owners of an outdated home were looking to transform their cramped, tired living spaces into inviting, unified areas that reflect their love of entertaining and the outdoors. Splashes of colour, texture and pattern are scattered throughout this home, seamlessly blending into the emotions of those who interact with them.

Previously, this home’s lower level lacked a proper connection to the backyard pool from the interior spaces. The solution was to produce a new opening on an exterior wall with a sliding glass door and turn a cramped in-law suite with a kitchenette into a stylish bar and hangout room. Watery hues and graphic, textured tiles coalesce to foster serendipitous moments. This palette continues into the adjoining laundry room, where alternating matte and shiny wall tiles are evocative of shimmering blades of grass. Dressed in soothing pastel shades, this laundry room suddenly makes folding laundry a lot less tedious.

The tired kitchen on the upper level received a complete remodel for a better connection to the adjoining areas, including removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room. A textured backsplash adds dimension to the grey-and-white space while custom millwork, including a wine cabinet with playful diagonal shelving, ensures everything has its place.

Connecting the levels of this split-level home is a new staircase crafted with open treads and a glass railing to achieve a sense of lightness. This unified design is further exemplified in the newly renovated bathroom — a sophisticated space where terrazzo dreams come true.
